Just 5Km off the coast near Cardwell, Hinchinbrook Island is the largest National Park Island in the Great Barrier Reef and is mostly uninhabited, except for one environmental resort at Cape Richards. The resort won the 2004 North Queensland Tourism Award for Eco-Tourism. The island is 37.4 Km and 10Km wide and is an ideal base from which to explore the tropical marine and island environments.

Take a day to cruise through the mangrove everglades, which are some of the richest and most varied in Australia and an important breeding ground for many marine animals. There's so much to experience at Hinchinbrook Island, dive the Great Barrier Reef, go snorkelling, take a walk through the virgin rainforest to isolated beaches (there's 11 beautiful, sandy beaches) or fish the world renowned waters.

There's day cruises to other parts of the National Park as well as fishing charters, so there's plenty to do on your exotic vaction to Hinchinbrook Island.
